Hemp Hemp Hooray!

I've been on the search for a good ("everything" free) bread for about 5 years now. But I've finally found the one that knocks everything else you'll try out of the park. Seriously. Even my mom (who isn't gluten free or anything free for that matter) thought I gave her actual bread with butter when I handed her a piece of this toast I had prepared.

(if it's mom-approved, ya know it has to be good!)

So, without any further ado... here's my favorite bread:

"Hemp Hemp Hooray" by Happy Campers

Filled with hemp seeds and millet seeds, each slice is full of heart-healthy Omega-3s, essential amino acids, vitamins and minerals. But the best part is there are absolutely no sugars in this bread. (Can I get an AMEN!) Each slice is slightly nutty, and perfectly delicious. Get ready because this bread is about to change your life.

Okay, so in case you are wondering the best way to prepare and eat this bread, check out my two tips below.

First tip before I get into any recipes... always heat your slice in the oven, can't explain why but the taste is completely different than in the toaster.. and oh so delicious.

Recipe #1:

a perfectly simple breakfast

Ingredients

2 slices of Hemp Hemp Hooray bread

Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Celtic sea salt (or Himalayan salt)

----------

Turn the oven on to 350 degrees, place both slices inside (while it's heating up) and wait about 5-10 minutes (check on the slices to make sure since your oven may be slightly different than mine). You want it to become slightly crunchy on the bottom and soft but crispy on the top. Once you've got your bread toasted, take it out and put about a tsp to 1 tbsp of olive oil on each slice, the best way to do this is with a spoon and then you smear the olive oil to cover the area. Next step, salt. I need to eat a ton of salt daily so I apply a generous amount onto each slice - but do what feels comfortable for you.

Then, cut each slice in half and you're all set!

If you want to add in some greens, I'd recommend some fresh basil, arugula or spinach. Just break them up and place on top... and take a bite!

Easy, delicious and healthy way to start the day.

Recipe #2

for those with a sweet tooth, or just looking for a little protein

Ingredients:

2 slices of Hemp Hemp Hooray

Almond butter (preferably, fresh ground.. you can pick that up at whole foods!)

Celtic sea salt (or Himalayan salt)

Directions:

Turn the oven on to 350, place both slices inside (while it's heating up) and wait about 5-10 minutes (check on the slices to make sure since your oven may be slightly different than mine). You want it to become slightly crunchy on the bottom and soft but crispy on the top.

Once the slices are toasted, lightly shake some salt on the top and then smear some fresh almond butter on. If you need extra salt like I do, add a pinch more on top. Slice in half and bite in.

This is the perfect little meal for when you have a sweet tooth or when you need to add a bit of protein in but don't have much of an appetite.

Sometimes, I prepare one slice like this and one slice like the first recipe. It switches things up and I get a bit more protein in my meal.

I hope you enjoyed this and I look forward to seeing what you create when you first try this bread! You can find this bread at your local Whole Foods store or online, I recommend online though as they give you a discount for ordering in bulk!
